TenFourFox is a fast, efficient Web browser always based on the current version of Firefox, but unlike the main distribution TenFourFox is compatible with OS X 10.4 and 10.5 running on PowerPC processors. It comes in different tuned versions for specific PowerPC processor families: TenFourFox for G3 processors. Update the old mac with tenfour. It is Thunderbird, but Thunderird it self dropped support for OSX 10.4 some time back, hence the community build.

What am I babbling about? It all concerns running Mozilla’s latest and greatest versions of it’s Firefox browser and it’s Thunderbird email client on our trusty PowerMacs, and in my case, my PowerMac G5 2.3 GHz. Regrettably, Mozilla has ceased development of Firefox and Thunderbird for the PPC platform. Happily however, PPC development for these cutting edge applications is still going on. The joys of open source!
In the case of Firefox, PowerPC compatible versions of the latest Firefox, named TenFourFox, can be had at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox. Aomei backupper. Versions are available for G3, G4 and G5. I am running the G5 variant, and I can report that it works very, very well.
